How to Keep Your Hair Hydrated This Christmas!

Santa is coming to town, and so is dry, brittle/fragile hair! Ho-Ho-OH-NO! Luckily, we have the best tips to keep dry hair away and hydrated tresses home for Christmas, and it's not only in your dreams. (Okay, we'll stop with the Christmas puns now)

Keep on reading for the best tips and tricks to keep your hair hydrated and healthy this Christmas!

Lay off the heat!

One of the best ways to maintain healthy, hydrated hair in the winter is to avoid high heat. This means lowering the temperature of your hot tools or avoiding them all together. There are various options to wear your hair up and it gives you an excuse to try new styles while protecting your hair!

Moisturizing Hair Oils and Products

The products you put in your hair matter! Hair oils like Neuma's NeuMoisture Argan Oil are specifically designed to moisturize and nourish your hair. We recommend investing in a good hair oil or cream-based leave in conditioner/styling cream to ensure that your hair is moisturized at all times. The best time to apply these kinds of products is straight out of the shower before air drying or blow drying.

Moisturizing Shampoo and/or Conditioner

As we stated in the previous tip, the products you put in your hair matter. If you aren't one to put products in your hair or you don't have the time to, then investing in a moisturizing shampoo and/or conditioner is going to be the best option for your lifestyle. When you invest in a good moisturizing shampoo or conditioner, you can provide your hair with the necessary hydration it needs during your regular shower routine. Moisturizing shampoos and conditioners such as Amika's Normcore ensure that every strand is provided with the proper amount of moisture by penetrating the first layer of your hair and sealing it. This traps in that moisture throughout your day without excluding the natural oils you create on your scalp.

Monthly Deep Hydration Treatments

Creating a monthly routine to provide the proper hydration to your strands is a great way to prevent dry hair. Here at Poppy Hair Studio, we provide a Deep Hydration Treatment service that can be added onto any other scheduled service or received by itself. Treatments like Neuma's NeuMoisture Deep Hydration Treatment work throughout every part of your hair to combat dryness and lock in moisture. These types of treatments, however, do tend to be extremely intense, and they can leave your hair feeling oily or waxy until your next wash, depending on how well your hair takes to the treatment. But we do believe that that one negative is fully worth the positive outcome.

At Home Hair Masques

If you would like to skip the salon and treat your hair yourself during a self-care night, then this is the tip for you! At home hair masques like Amika Soulfood allow you to bring the hair salon treatments home! These masques are a perfect equivalent to deep hydration treatments, but without the extreme intensity. The results of these masques can last for about two weeks, allowing for healthy hydrated strands. We highly recommend treating yourself twice a month in place of your conditioner to allow for proper nourishment.

Dry, brittle strands are a thing of Christmas past if you follow any of these tips or tricks. Let us know at your next session which of these ideas have helped you the most this holiday season.
